News regarding Eric’s voice: podcast is up; merchandise is nearly gone; Eric was on the radio

The podcast for this week’s “Snide Remarks” column can be found here. [Link was broken; now it is fixed.] I need to stop writing such long columns; 12 minutes of reading is hard on the voice.

Also, if you missed the announcement about the upcoming scarcity of Eric D. Snider-related merchandise, here it is.

Finally, it’s worth noting that on Friday, Portland’s airwaves briefly featured my voice. I was invited by movie-critic pal Mike Russell to join him on KUFO’s Cort & Fatboy program. Mike is there every Friday to review movies, but he hadn’t seen “Hannibal Rising,” so I was brought in to fulfill those duties.

You can listen to a recording of the show here. Since the commercials and Stone Temple Pilots songs have been removed, Mike and I actually appear very early in the program.

“KUFO’s Cort & Fatboy program”? Could there be a more stereotypical Morning Zoo DJ name combination?

    Well, yeah, there could be.

See, my nickname is actually Fatboy. From high school. Mostly because I’m actually kind of fat. and Cort’s name is his real name. So considering we didn’t want to name the show “the wacky zany nighttime doghouse (soundeffect car horn fart boing)” we decided to just call it “Cort and Fatboy,” Since we try to stay away from the radio cliche garbage that has relegated radio to red-headed stepchild of the entertainment industry.

Thanks for listening, though. Eric killed it on Friday, cracked us up more than a few times. Thanks again, Eric, it’s much appreciated.

    Radio’s Fatboy, ladies and gentlemen!

I’ll vouch for the quality of the Cort & Fatboy program. It’s one of only two personality-driven radio shows in all of existence (the other being X96’s Radio from Hell, in SLC) that is ACTUALLY funny and entertaining, as opposed to stupid and irritating. Cort & Fatboy know about the lame “morning zoo” type of show, and they do everything they can to not be that. For example, they’re on in the evening instead of the morning. See?

Also, concerning Fatboy’s name: It must be a legitimate, long-standing nickname, because I’ve done the show several times now and still don’t know what his real name is. Seriously.
