On the ones you guess, those were the same ones I guessed, too. Only, I thought that I had recognized "The Little Matchgirl" as a children's book story. Yay! I was right! I think I'll have to go watch it. I just barely got "The Little Mermaid." Wahoo!

The "Little Match Girl" is on the bonus features of the recent release of "The Little Mermaid" on DVD.

I did not know what it was when i watched it, but at the end I was in tears! It's only about 7 minutes long and is based on the Anderson story. I had no idea what the story was about when i watched the short. It was devastating. I mentioned it to my wife and she said that it was a depressing story, yeah no kidding.

It deserves the Oscar.

"The Little Matchgirl" is on the Platinum Edition DVD of "The Little Mermaid." (It's also based on a Hans Christian Andersen story, you see.) It is very well animated and pulls at the heartstrings as well. Plus, it's from Disney. Therefore, it will probably win.

I'm always embarrassed, as someone who has a degree in film, by how few of the nominated films I've seen.

I'm also embarrassed by my thinning hair.

Not gonna do much about either.
