My address used to be plastered all over the site, before we got wise to the bots that go around trolling for addresses to use for spam. But anyone who can't remember it either never knew it or isn't trying very hard: it's Eric + EricDSnider dot com. I assume that's how Mike knew it.

Yes, but were did he get your email address? Did he just have it already in his address book? I know any time I want to send you an email I have to come to the website first and use your email link. Which, as I just checked, doesn't even list your address!

Maybe he has your address memorized.

Pay attention, dear readers: He didn't say my site was blocked; he said his work blocked the Internet altogether. He obviously still had e-mail access, probably through his company's e-mail program.

My work doesn't block Internet sites because we use it for work-related stuff, but if you go anywhere that can't be explained as work-related, you get fired. Also, you get fired if you go on non-work related sites and someone gets offended by anything on it--including something as innocuous as a bad movie review. It's quite foolish, really.

So if Mike couldn't access your site, how did he have your e-mail address available? Maybe he has an address book with all the e-mails of the sites he used to read...

Is there a more logical explanation?

I can't imagine why a workplace would see fit to block this website. There's no dirty language or pictures, so I can't imagine how somebody could be offended by the content. I guess it's not work-related, but reading a movie review or a snide remarks column only takes 10-15 minutes, and expecting your employees to work all day without small distractions is unrealistic. Fortunately, I work in the IT department, so I get to decide what sites are blocked and what sites aren't.
