Friday movie roundup - March 9
Just one new release this week, but it’s a corker. It’s “300,” a highly entertaining film about the ancient Spartans fighting the ancient Persians. It’s based on a graphic novel by Frank Miller, as was “Sin City,” and it has that same graphic-novel look about it. Very cool and lots of fun.

In other movie news, I’m in Austin now for the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Festival, which commences tonight and runs through next weekend. I’ll be posting daily reports here in my blog starting tomorrow, so y’all come back now, y’hear? (That’s how they talk down here. It’s kind of annoying.)

I wish I could go to SXSW, but not for the films - they have an AMAZING line up of bands there during the festival. There are a few I’d love to see. Pony Up, Kate Havnevik, Lily Allen.
