Monday update: Why is my Snider sense tingling?

Normally I agree with Garfield about hating Mondays, but not today! Today Garfield can stick it! We got us a new “Snide Remarks” column right here, with its accompanying podcast (which of course you can listen to directly on the page, if you wanna, thanks to futuristic SnideCast® technology). So that’s all well and good.

We do NOT have a review of “In the Land of Women,” because I failed to watch it this weekend, and that is awesome!

And finally, at 11 a.m. today I will be seeing a little movie called “Spider-Man 3″! Almost two weeks early! And it’s a press-only screening, so the usual assortment of bumpkins, hoboes, and jackasses won’t be there! Except for the ones who are members of the press! Why, it’s all enough to make one giddy, even on a Monday.

Even though it’s early, I think you have to bend the rules and tell us if you liked it at least.

  2. RandyTayler Says:

Yeah, that movie looks like a mess of a story, though I am excited for it. I mean you have three villains with separate plans — how can they possibly reconcile that?

Maybe they defeat Sandman in the first half of the movie. That must be it. Then we’re left with the how-to-deal-with-the-poison-of-revenge theme in the second half.

  3. O'Mallen Says:

    Jealous

  4. Greg Says:

I’m pretty sure the Venom stuff is one scene at the end to set up Spider-Man 4, but maybe I’m wrong.

  5. BeeDub Says:

    ***POSSIBLE SPOILERS***

An advance “spy” review said that while he supposes it’s possible that Venom will return for Part 4 (if they even make one), he wouldn’t have to. His storyline is pretty much “dealt with” by the end of Part 3.

Which makes me a bit sad. Venom could easily be the main villain of a Spider-man movie all by himself. Him and Carnage.

Aargh! So jealous! TWO weeks early?!

P.S. Rumor has it Sam Raimi is looking at a different project after this one, and if that’s the case Kirsten Dunst isn’t coming back, (not that I really like most of her work, but I think she does fine as Mary Jane), and Tobey Maguire’s leaning pretty much the same way, so I think the idea of a 4th movie is kind of up in the air right now.

  7. Eric D. Snider Says:

OK, I guess I should be fair and give you a BASIC yea or nay on the movie. It’s a yea. It will definitely be a positive review. How positive, I’m not tellin’.

I am told that we’re allowed to print our reviews on Thursday, May 3, though — a whole day early!! So for that we must thank our friends at Sony. I’ll try to post it at 12:01 a.m. May 3.

  8. blain Says:

Good stuff. Any chance the podcasts will be put into a feed so they’re actually podcastable?

  9. Eric D. Snider Says:

Blain, my good man, the podcasts are already in a feed, and have been since day one! At the top of the right-hand column of this page are links to the blog’s RSS feed, as well as the feeds for the “In the Dark” and “Snide Remarks” podcasts. Let your iTunes retrieve them for you automatically each and every week!

  10. David Manning Says:

    “Snider Sense.” HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

  11. blain Says:

Okay. Loaded into my podcatcher (don’t do itunes, but I got the drift), and it seems to be working okay. Haven’t tried shoving a mixed RSS feed into a podcatcher before, but, once you mentioned it, it makes sense that it would work.

So thanks for your help, and, if you know what this means, dittos. I especially love “Since My Best Friend Got Engaged.”

  12. Turkey Says:

“Director Sam Raimi has confirmed that Sony intends to produce at least three more Spider-Man films after Spider-Man 3, and Columbia Pictures has hired screenwriter David Koepp to write the script for a fourth Spider-Man film.”

    So who knows, eh?

  13. Chrystle Says:

Do you know when you’re going to review “In the Land of Women?” I’ve been curious about that one, and wether it’s worth seeing.

    Cheers

  14. Thoughtful Observer Says:

Sam Raimi is supposed to be doing a movie adaption of the Terry Pratchett book “The Wee Free Men,” but I haven’t heard anything about when (and the info on that was from Pratchett himself, so I think it’s reliable).
