i read the papers for the obituarys and eric snider (mostly-some roger ebert) for movie reviews and drudge report for news and espn for sports and ebay for shopping. so you see i`m on the vast global wide interweb thingie for most of my information. if they could cipher a way to teleport chips and salsa to me i would never leave the house. maybe when all the old poops that produce john wayne style movies get over their fear of instant access by the masses we can get on with things. print reviews are controlled by the man.

I've seen early reviews of big films on CNN.com and the San Francisco Chronicle's website. I don't understand why it's okay for them and yet there's a paranoia about online critics. Eric, are you sure the worry of early reviews is the reason some distributors are wary of online critics? Could it just be that they don't view online critics as "credible"--viewing them instead as just an average Joe with a website and thus not actual press?
Either way, AdamOndi is right. Who reads print reviews anymore?

I constantly wonder just how long it is going to take for all of these "Old Media" types to perform anal cranialectomies on themselves and realize that "the old way of doing things" is bunk. We are experiencing what they like to call a paradigm shift, and they are steadily marginalizing themselves. I don't know a single person that even reads reviews in papers any more. Everyone I know goes to one of the many review websites to get their movie reviews.
