Warm tidings on a frosty Monday
Portland is experiencing some of its coldest weather EVER, with highs below freezing expected all week. Right this minute it’s 21 degrees, with the wind chill making it feel like 1 degree. Yes, one degree. How many degrees are there today? Just the one. I think we can all agree that this definitively proves that there’s no such thing as global warming.
In merrier news, today’s “Snide Remarks” is about U.S. Postal Service regulations!
And hey, look over here! It’s Eric’s Time Capsule at Film.com, which today addresses “Beavis and Butt-Head Do America,” released 12 years ago this week. The film’s lasting legacy: Red Hot Chili Peppers’ cover of “Love Rollercoaster” on the soundtrack.
This week’s “Snide Remarks,” including the audio version, is here.
The audio version (i.e., the podcast) is also here.

I was a missionary out in Portland for a while and always loved it when it snowed. EVERYONE LOOSES THEIR MIND! The city shuts down, cats and dogs start living together and ther eis complete pandemonium. Heck, old ladies even refuse to let you help them shovel their walks. Wierd stuff.

People loosing their minds, eh? Is that like loosing the hounds? I don’t want to be too much of a Spelling Nazi, but people sending their brains out to attack other people was a really funny mental picture for me.

There was a delightful ice storm there a few years back that shut the city down. Made me miss Provo (just that once, mind) and their fleet of plows that hit the streets before the first snowflake touches down. If Portland ever had a plow it was probably hijacked long ago and crashed somewhere by the drug-addled urchins that hang around in front of the Pioneer Courthouse.

It’s been freaking cold up here by Seattle, too. Right now it’s the warmest it has been in days, 37 degrees. And it’s snowing pretty hard. Way to go, weather.
I don’t want to leave my house today

It’s way cold in Lake Elsinore, California, too. It was 37 when I came home from work today at 3:30, and it’s been raining all day.

I don’t know why, but it totally cracks me up. Could be because of the Benny Hill playback speed.
