Eric’s Bad Movies: ‘Power Rangers: The Movie’ (1995)

In honor of “Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen,” now deafening audiences in theaters everywhere, Eric’s Bad Movies at Film.com this week features “Power Rangers: The Movie.” The posters and other promotional material for the film referred to it by its TV show title, “Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie,” but the actual onscreen title drops the “Mighty Morphin” part. I am forced to conclude that while the Power Rangers were mighty and could morph on TV, they did not have these attributes in cinemas.

Nice tie-in to this week’s Snide Remarks.

And thanks for taking one for the team. I’ve always wondered what’s the deal with the Power Rangers, but I’ve never had the courage to actually investigate it for myself. Now I don’t have to, since you took the railroad spike in the forehead for all of us.

Looking back at my childhood, the Power Rangers craze was just as dumb as the Pokemon craze. Even though the GameBoy games are decent.

  3. Kate Says:

I maintain–as I did when Power Rangers: The Movie was first suggested–that this movie is a freakin’ masterpiece compared to the sequel.

  4. Corey Weaver Says:

Eric, what were fads that you liked in your childhood ,but then you grew out of it?

That guy from the “behind the scenes” video – have you seen his website, http://www.artelex.com? It is OFF THE CHARTS loony – there’s entire sections devoted to his lycra fetish and his nudism…
