@ lilcis: I remember the book, too! I don’t think it was a series, though. I can’t recall the story, but I remember the cover – I wanted to look like the totally rad girl with poofy bangs.

Sorry, Eric. . .I just read the review and it, of course, pointed out the subtle genius of the “Top That!” rap as well as another great song, “I Like Boys.” Oh man, that movie was great.

Oh Eric. . .I loved loved loved this movie when it aired 42,000 times on cable when I was a preteen. I mean, those clothes! I thought she was the coolest girl ever. And ‘member that rap with her nerdy best friend and that really awesome guy who apparently raps/sings at random? Classic.

I remember reading & loving the book series and was really excited for this movie to come out . . . and then so, so disappointed by it. I totally forgot this movie existed, but now I want to read the books again to see if they were as good as I remember.
