Friday, August 21st, 2009Quentin Tarantino’s intentionally misspelled “Inglourious Basterds” opens today, and love it or hate it, there’s no question it’s a Quentin Tarantino film. If you’ve seen one of his previous works, you know what sort of shenanigans you’re in for.
Tarantino’s last film was “Death Proof,” which ran as one-half of the “Grindhouse” program. The other half was “Planet Terror,” directed by Robert Rodriguez — who also has a new film coming out today! It’s “Shorts,” a sunny, PG-rated lark aimed at kids, with a story about a magic wish-granting rock. Very un-Tarantino-like.
The third new wide release this weekend is “Post Grad,” an awful comedy starring the girl from “Gilmore Girls” as a recent college graduate who can’t find a job. This is largely because she’s a petulant, over-entitled moron, though the movie does not realize this.
