Eric’s Bad Movies at Film.com: ‘Leonard Part 6′ (1987)

You could make a pretty strong case for Bill Cosby being the most successful and TV icon of all time. His shows include “The Bill Cosby Show” (1969-71), “The New Bill Cosby Show” (a variety show, 1972-73), “Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids” (1972-76, with later incarnations), “Cos” (another variety show, 1976), “The Cosby Show” (1984-92), “The Cosby Mysteries” (1994-95), and “Cosby” (1996-2000) — and those are just the ones with his name in the title. There was also “I Spy,” “The Electric Company,” and “Captain Kangaroo” (Picture Pages!).

Yet when it comes to movies, his most famous contributions are two huge disasters: “Ghost Dad” and “Leonard Part 6.” It is “Leonard Part 6,” an awful spy comedy from 1987, that we address this week in Eric’s Bad Movies at Film.com. Enjoy Dr. Huxtable’s humiliation!

I remember “Ghost Dad” being pretty awful, too. Please tell me it will be the subject of next week’s installment!

  2. Jim Says:

******* you, Eric! Now I MUST locate this movie and watch it! It sounds amazing… ly bad! Entertaning bad or just bad?? Ghost Dad is another one I have to watch though I’ve seen it before and remember it being delightful when I was 8 years old.

  3. barry Says:

Wasn’t he responsible for some nick jr. show too? Little Bill, or something like that? And I still can’t figure out the grammar behind that first sentence.

  4. GP Says:

“And the magical sphere that enables Medusa to control animals is guarded by bees, so the queen bee is handy as a distraction, as worker bees are notoriously horny.”

Worker bees are genetically girls, so the queen won’t make them horny. And they’re neuter, so they’re incapable of being horny anyway.

Oh, and I’m guessing that worker bees would only be distracted by their own queen, not some stranger queen (but we can blame that one on the movie).

  5. Binky Says:

“The Devil and Max Devlin” was a magnificent movie.

  6. Dustin Fife Says:

Please, please, please do “Krull” next. I need validation that it is as bad-funny as I thought it was.

  7. David Cornelius Says:

In addition to Binky’s “Max Devlin” shout-out, there’s also his string of comedies in the 70s – “Uptown Saturday Night,” “Let’s Do It Again,” “A Piece of the Action,” etc. Also, “Mother, Jugs & Speed” is the best movie title ever.

But yes, “Leonard Part 6″ is terrible.

  8. Dave Says:

Dustin: eeric did “Krull” this past August–it’s in the archives, you can check it out there. (And yeah, it’s exactly as bad-funny as you thought it was.)

  9. Dougrad Says:

I too remember loving “Ghost Dad” when it first came out, having actually seen it in the theater at age eight, but then realizing how truly bad it was after watching it as an adult. It would be great to see that one reviewed in the future.

  10. Kaydria Says:

“The CIA is led by Joe Don Baker, which explains a lot of its problems.” oh it’s just too easy.

  11. pizzatheface Says:

“Melted butter, melted butter, melted butter.”

  12. Jordan Says:

I haven’t gone through all the movies featured in EBM, but I have a suggestion for you. Have you ever seen “The Pirate Movie”? It’s one of those epically bad movies that may or may not be loosely based on “The Pirates of Penzance”.
