The summer blockbuster season begins today (or at 12:01 this morning, actually) with “Iron Man 2,” in which Robert Downey Jr. again puts on a metal suit and shoots lasers at things. Downey and Sam Rockwell (as a rival weapons manufacturer) are fun, but the movie feels like a repeat of the last one. Then again, the last one was quite popular, so maybe that’s OK.
For some reason there is a documentary called “Babies” (review at Film.com), about babies.
In New York and L.A. you could (but shouldn’t) see “Mercy,” written by and starring Scott Caan as a douchey, philandering novelist who doesn’t believe in true love … until he meets his true love, that is. MEH.
On “Movie B.S. with Bayer Snider,” we had a special call-in guest: Momma Snider, who talked about movies on account of it’s almost Mother’s Day. You can listen at PDX.fm or download at iTunes. Remember, we’re on at 11 a.m. (Pacific) every Friday, and now we can chat with listeners in real time.

This week’s Movie B.S. was full of summertime goodness, plus Momma Snider saying embarrassing things about me. http://moviebs.pdx.fm/
