I'm actually in the Eagle Mountain Tenth Ward with the Ceran family, and they are amazing, and I'd heard about Lindsay from my dad who'd heard about it from somebody else, and I had no idea she was your niece until I stopped by today to read some movie reviews!

It's so amazing what she accomplished!

It seriously was awesome, Eric. I'll fill in a few of the details, in case anyone is interested.

We didn't actually sell brownies for $50 each. We had two cakes that sold for $20 each, and three or four things that were $5, but otherwise everything was priced between 50 cents and $3. The big keys were:

1) A ton of people showed up, including several I had never met who read about it here on your blog. We also had great turnout from our neighborhood, our old neighborhood (where the Cerans live), and my coworkers. We also had Lindsay's kindergarten teacher and one of the kids' gymnastics teachers show up.

2) There was a lot of rounding up. Someone would come up to us with $4 worth of food on a plate, and they'd hand Lindsay $10 or $20 and tell her to keep the change.

I asked Lindsay on our way home from dinner tonight what her favorite part of the bake sale was. She said, "I liked that so many people came and gave us dollars for the Cerans."

Seriously, it was the best day ever. Beth and I try hard to be good parents, and every once in a while we succeed. Today, I feel like we helped them learn something that will make their lives better forever.

Adorable kids! It's crazy how much your niece and nephew looks like you. It's a good thing because we needed some solid proof before donating. That Ceran/Ukrainian orphan story seemed straight out of The Onion.
