I use this phrase all the time now:

““Don’t judge me because I sin differently than you.”

Works every time.

Being a Mormon-turned-atheist, I don’t generally pay attention to General Conference now. But thanks to my Mormon friends on Facebook, I became aware of this talk and gladly embraced its advice. You don’t have to be Christian to believe that we should treat everyone with kindness and understanding – as we all want to be treated. Alas the “golden rule” really is just common sense and having someone gently remind us of that is important and helpful. Thanks for sharing it, Eric. I did not however embrace Russel M. Nelson’s talk, but I try to respect the views . . . using the advice of Uchtdorf.
