Also of note, as long as we’re noting things: The National, an English-language newspaper in the United Arab Emirates, has quoted me in a story about “Where the Wild Things Are.” The reporter contacted me by e-mail, and I believe this is the first time I have been interviewed by someone writing for a newspaper in Abu Dhabi. I wasn’t entirely convinced, before this, that “Abu Dhabi” was even a real place. But it is! It has a newspaper and everything!

Over at Film.com, “Mystery Men” is the subject of Eric’s Ten-Year Itch. I also have a review of Hollywood’s Shameful Secret® “The Collector” there. But the point is, here’s a new “Snide Remarks” column, “In Which It Is Hard to Throw Away a Desk.” It’s the one that first appeared in “Something Cleverish,” the fundraiser book for Christian and Stephanie Nielson.

And over here at Film.com is Eric’s Time Capsule, addressing “Psycho II,” released 26 years ago this week. For those who were asking, the Eric’s Ten-Year Itch column is only going to be an occasional Time Capsule replacement at first, but will gradually take over completely by the end of the summer.

And if you’re interested in dying a slow, delicious death, I’d like to recommend the Cookie Cake Pie, which is exactly what it sounds like. The combination possibilities are endless! Mom and I are going to try it when I visit home this weekend, and I’ll let you know how it turns out, unless it kills me.

In other news, we’re starting a new occasional feature at Film.com called “Eric’s Ten-Year Itch,” in which I re-watch a movie that I reviewed exactly 10 years earlier and discuss how my views — and how the movie world, and society in general — have changed since then. First up is a re-examination of “Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace,” which was released 10 years ago tomorrow, if you can believe that.

For now, “Eric’s Ten-Year Itch” will appear in place of “Eric’s Time Capsule” on occasional Mondays, with the aim of eventually replacing the Time Capsule altogether. I hope you find it interesting, or at least not irritating.

Catching up on stuff: Here’s this week’s “Snide Remarks,” entitled “PETA, PETA, Kitten Eater,” which as you can see features our favorite SR subject.

And here’s this week’s edition of Eric’s Time Capsule at Film.com — “9 1/2 Weeks,” released 23 years ago this Saturday. It stars Mickey Rourke, who could collect an Oscar on Sunday. He’s virtually unrecognizable from the way he looked in “9 1/2 Weeks.” But then again, aren’t we all?
