A Journey for the Betterment of People
Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist - 210
Episode #16
"A Journey for the Betterment of People"
Season 2: 4/28/96
Ben is approached by a "woman plying her trade," and it makes him decide to help people in need. He gets pretty obsessed about the whole thing, brags to Laura, calls Katz a failure ("I'm a phony, but I'm not a failure," he replies), insults a long-time family friend, and finally gives up on the idea of helping people -- all in about three days.
- Sandra Bernhard: Doesn't really say anything, though she goes on and on for a while; doesn't even try to make jokes; Katz tells her he didn't have much training.
- Todd Barry: Going to a party where the invitation says "9 till ??"; "the answer to the question is usually '9:15'"; when on a first date and a steamy sex scene comes up in the movie, don't turn to her and say, "That's us in two hours"; was on academic warning, academic probation, and then academic house arrest; "my recipe for bad grades: don't study"; can't fathom being a parent, because he'd have a hard time going on vacation -- "We need a break from you" is what you have to tell the kids; hates smoking, but will let women smoke in his apartment, including crack ("God bless her for showing up"); got a wok so he could create his own mediocre Chinese food in his own apartment, for 50 cents less than take-out; with bands, "if the drummer has a gong, they're not a good band."
