Cholesterol

Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist - 104

Episode #4

"Cholesterol"

Season 1: 6/18/95

When Katz becomes concerned about his health after a routine check-up, Julie the bartender agrees to help him get in shape. (This is the only time that any character besides Katz and his patients has been inside his office, as that is where Julie helps him work out.) In exchange, he gives her guitar lessons and sings a songs he wrote about her, with one word: "Julie." Ben tells Laura that since whatever Katz has is probably congenital, he may have it, and therefore she should go out with him while she still can. Also in this episode: Katz and Stanley speak Spanish together; Stan talks about endorphins and saratonin; Katz says he doesn't want to shower at the gym with all those other guys. This is the first episode in which we see the crazy guy with a sock puppet on his hand; we see him during Dave Attell's session.

  • Laura Kightlinger: Wants to put Post-It notes on guys' foreheads so she'll know not to sleep with them again; hates how when she's at her lowest point, she runs into someone who's at their highest point.
  • Dave Attell: Arrives two hours early and wonders why Katz keeps him waiting; as a kid he thought his dad was Superman, but now he sees he's just another guy in a cape; at the opera: "look how much it takes to bore me"; likes to watch crazy people wander around, including a guy talking about ants; wonders why they have workboots for babies; rants against Katz ("Dr. 'I Know It All Because I Can Read'").
