Trip survived; podcast recorded

Despite Colorado and Wyoming’s best efforts, I did make it safely back to Portland very late Sunday night. I drove for 17 1/2 hours straight, which is a record for me and which actually wasn’t too bad. I guess I got in The Zone. Also, I was listening to a book-on-CD recording of “Bridget Jones’s Diary,” which was delightful.

Anyway, the long and short of it is that there’s no new “Snide Remarks” this week, what with the unexpected trip and the even more unexpected complications. But as a consolation prize, I do have a new podcast recording of last week’s column, for all interested parties. You can find it here.

I would have been nice to find out like yesterday or sum’n.

Glad you made it back. You are much braver than I traveling the country this time of year.

I once drove from St. Louis to Ogden straight in January. It was NOT GOOD. At the start of the I-84 descent from Wyoming, I had some very nice waking dreams. My major mistake was leaving at 9pm after packing the entire day. Glad you made it safely.

I think between a) no new Snide Remarks being posted yesterday, and b) this blog entry being posted yesterday evening, all the tools were in place for you to find out yesterday.

I’m not saying I couldn’t have found out; I’m saying it would have been nice to have found it out yesterday.

    Nevertheless, I forge on.

Please tell me I’ve misunderstood. Please tell me you’re NOT complaining about a) there not being a column this week and/or b) not being informed of the column’s absence in a timely enough fashion. Please tell me that your tone, which sounds very much like you’ve somehow been inconvenienced, like someone has failed in his obligation to you, is just not coming across properly. Please?

  7. David Cornelius Says:

There is nothing delightful about Bridget Jones. Sorry.

  8. Karen Stout Says:

What an odd thing to say, David Cornelius. I found it quite funny, insightful, poignant…yup,I think “delightful” is a word I would agree with.

    “Nothing,” period?
    wow.

Apologies to all. My above comments were intentionally flippant and overly so for the sake of humor. I didn’t think anyone would take them seriously and I apologize to all for seeming callous and uncaring. I’m happy Eric made it safely home and wouldn’t wish his misfortunes on him or anyone else. Sincerely, I meant no ill will.

And I truly regret having misspelled ‘it’ in my original comment, for that is the peril of not proofreading.

Whew! Just a joke gone awry, then. No harm done. Thanks for clearing it up.

  11. Sean Says:

And there I was thinking stupidramblings really did have some elitist disdain for our service men and women.

  12. Steven Gardner Says:

    I thought he hated America.
