DVD or Mormonad?
Question for Mormons: Is this the cover photo for the “Because I Said So” DVD, or is it a picture from The New Era?

Not a Mormonad. One word in the title needs to be 9 times bigger than the rest of them.
And you need a scripture.

I’m going to cheat in a minute with Google, but my gut reaction says it’s a picture from the New Era. I can’t see any other reason you’d ask than to trick us.

Chrystle (and anyone else who’s confused): The New Era is the LDS magazine for teenagers, and Mormonads are … well, difficult for me to describe, so here’s a link with a decent archive of examples:

I just wanted to add that I am in no way anti-Mormon, but I am very strongly anti-Mormonad. The Mormonads of my youth were so corny or manipulative (or both) and I remember being urged to hang them on the walls of my room or in my locker as “reminders”. I thought, that’s like having a poster that says “Don’t Murder People.” Good thing I had that there to remind me, I might have gone on a rampage otherwise!

I know what Mormonads are. I was just wondering why this might be taken for one. It doesn’t have anyone in 80’s fashions with big fluffy hair.

It was the cheesy, over-posed figures — especially the look on Mandy Moore’s face — that said “The New Era” to me.

No Mormon mom would DARE be caught dead in red tinted sunglasses…too risque’
So it MUST be a movie ad(incidentally, for a movie with Diane Keaton, who I love, but didn’t care for the movie)

Naw, if it were a true Mormonad, Diane Keaton’s arms would be folded and her head would be tilted down with the chin tucked into her chest, and she would have an overly exasperated look on her face.
Oh, and it would say “Because HEAVENLY FATHER Said So”
Mandy Moore has her look down pat. She must have posed for the Mormonad photographer a time or two before when he was out doing some freelancing.
