Eric’s Bad Movies: ‘Leprechaun’ (1993)

We’re kicking off a month of horror films in Eric’s Bad Movies at Film.com with “Leprechaun,” a completely incompetent effort from 1993 that has spawned several direct-to-video sequels. I haven’t seen the follow-ups, but I get the impression they are more intentionally funny and campy than the original. Maybe the filmmakers realized there was only one way to go with a murderous leprechaun, and it wasn’t straight-up horror.

You guys guessed it right off the bat last week. I’m going to make it a little harder this time (I think). Next week’s movie, also a horror flick, features an actor who would later play a famous real-life outlaw on a TV series. That’s all you get.

And a final note about Film.com: I appreciate you posting comments on my articles over there. Comments are prized by the corporate overlords. But I’ve recently learned that they love something else, too: the “Recommend” count. At the top of each article you can click the word “Recommend” to indicate that you, um, recommend it to people. That’s it. You don’t have to do anything else. You don’t even actually have to like it. Just click “Recommend” and boost my numbers, wouldja? Thanks.

My guess is “Slither” with space outlaw Nathan Fillion

  2. Quel Says:

Oh wait, he’s supposed to be a real-life outlaw. Never mind.

  3. ClobberGirl Says:

Slaughterhouse Rock with Ty Miller fits the bill, but my knowledge of American outlaws in TV series is so murky, there could be others.

  4. Moffio Says:

Eric, can you give a hint as to what kind of outlaw he portrayed? Gunslinger, gangster, serial killer?

  5. Eric D. Snider Says:

OH, I STUMPED YOU, DID I???

Stealer of money. The TV series is still on, though the character is no longer on it.

  6. Moffio Says:

Yes, yes you did. (Bowing my head in shame)

  7. Moffio Says:

I looked for characters based on real thieves that appeared on Prison Break to no luck. I should have looked harder.
