Eric’s Bad Movies: ‘The Forbidden Dance’ (1990)
Back in 1990, there was a phony dance craze called the lambada that was allegedly sweeping the nation, and two enterprising film producers sought to cash in as soon as possible. Thus, on March 16 of that year, two separate lambada films hit theaters. I have dutifully watched one of them (by all accounts the worse of the two), entitled “The Forbidden Dance.” It is this week’s edition of Eric’s Bad Movies at Film.com. Please enjoy, unless you feel it may be too sexy.

Wow. That sounds like one of the worst films you’ve had to watch yet.

So it seems like this bad movie will coincide with a possible future bad movie opening this week…hmmm

I’ve actually seen The Forbidden Dance, thanks to HBO showing any old crap they could get their hands on throughout my youth. Strangely, I don’t recall ever seeing Lambada on that channel, so I guess HBO was doing their part for the rain forest.
In my defense, the movie does feature attractive women in short skirts and thongs, with occasional shots to emphasize that, and that was plenty of reason for a young teenaged male to sit through all the other stupid crap.
