Eric’s Bad Movies: ‘King Kong Lives’ (1986)

Poor King Kong. He was a mighty and fearsome creature in his original incarnation, terrifying the Depression-era pants off of audiences and inspiring a thousand imitations. But then there was the boring remake in 1976, followed by an even worse sequel to that remake in 1986, called “King Kong Lives.” You might notice a problem with the premise right in the title, given what you know about Kong, i.e., that he’s dead. It only gets worse from there. It’s the subject of this week’s edition of Eric’s Bad Movies at Film.com.

One peculiar thing about this movie: The actors inside the two giant-ape costumes are credited first in the cast list, before the human characters. That’s a sign that maybe the Kongs get too much screen time, don’t you think?
