Undercover

Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist - 413

Episode #45

"Undercover"

Season 4: 9/14/97

Laura starts taking a lot of time off, but won't say why. Ben is curious ("What kind of chop-shop are you running?"), and so is Katz, and they speculate. Ben decides to go undercover and "tail" her when she leaves the office, but a bakery distracts him. He winds up spending a half-hour in her dumpster, while Katz asks her and she admits she's been going to traffic school.

  • Mark Pitta: Doesn't like family holidays because you have to be polite; yawns with his mouth closed sometimes; when passing slow drivers, he feels he has to look at them, as though the explanation for their slowness will be in their faces ("Oh, look, it's Mr. Magoo"); cried during "Bridges of Madison County," and while telling Katz about it.
  • Richard Lewis: The king of neurotic stand-up comedy -- a seemingly perfect guest for this show -- oddly doesn't say much. Uncle Phil died; he was the one who took family movies and "edited out the joy"; grandma knitted her suicide note.
  • Ron Lynch: Uses a toy to make his voice weird; hoping to catch up to his older brother in age; has a fake phone on which he receives fake calls during the session; finally, Katz has to confiscate all the toys.
