I know I am occasionally prone to make overstatements in this area, but “Howling II: …Your Sister Is a Werewolf” is one of the worst movies I’ve ever seen. It’s in the bottom 10 for sure. Film students should watch it to analyze how badly it’s shot, composed, and edited — seriously, I mean that. It would be very instructional for people who are learning how to make a film to see such a prime example of how not to do it.
Is is the subject of this week’s edition of Eric’s Bad Movies at Film.com, of course. If you search for “Howling II” at YouTube, you’ll find several edifying clips from the film, including the one where the priest gets attacked by the bat, and the one where Christopher Lee explains the plot.
The male lead in this film is Reb Brown, who would later star in something called “Space Mutiny.” When “Mystery Science Theater 3000” dealt with “Space Mutiny,” they made up a series of amusing names for Brown’s beefy character: Butch Deadlift, Fist Rockbone, Blast Thickneck, Big McLargehuge, etc. Do you want to see the entire list? Of course you do. (For my money, “Reb Brown” is a fairly entertaining name to begin with.)
We’ve been dealing with horror films for October, but next week’s entry will feature a horror of a different kind. It will also violate one of my major rules for Eric’s Bad Movies. Your final clue is that there’s a good reason I’m doing it next week as opposed to some other time. Any guesses?
How long was “Space Mutiny?” From that list, would guess they were throwing out funny names every minute or so. Thank you for that link, it made my day.
You know, I’m sure I remember it being Large McBighuge and not the other way round. Ah well, I shall place my trust in our friend the internet.
I am guessing that the rule it violates will be that he’s reviewed it before. Other than that, I’ll leave the guessing to everyone else.
I’m going to root for the made-for-TV rule and hope that Mazes and Monsters is Eric’s choice. That I can’t think of any reason to pick the movie should be irrelevant.
Just a wild guess, but High School Musical 3 comes out next week- as my eleven year ol daughter won’t let me forget. Perhaps you will review High School Musical one or two, even though they were made for cable??
My favorite part of “Space Mutiny” was how they blatantly used old 1970’s Battlestar Galactica footage for their space fighter scenes. As if no one would notice.
I’m thinking he’ll review one of the Saw movies. Same thinking as High School Musical 3, except that Saw would still be following the theme of the month.
I’m with Devino. It definitely has to be a horror movie–he’s already told us October would be all horror movies. And since a new Saw is coming out, it would be timely.
Haha Space Mutiny might be my favorite MST3K episode, that or Final Sacrifice. Hmm… as far as next week, I think its going to be a review of the Saw series of a whole, seeing how the 5th one is coming out.

Please, please, please, please review High School Musical. You bet it’s a horror movie. It instills in me all kinds of fear for the future of our nation. Also, my daughter made me watch it with her, and it would be so therapeutic to hear Eric trash it properly.
Oh, and: I’m betting it’s a “Halloween” movie. Eric’s already reviewed all of ’em, I believe, but now’s a good time to revisit.
It won’t be a “Saw” film. The lowest grade any of them got in his original review was a C-. I would think that grade-wise, the film would have to be D quality at best in order to qualify for “EBMs”. Besides, he probably wouldn’t break that particular rule, especially for a recent film. The only reason he did it for “Batman and Robin” was because his original review was in a different format (he said, she said).
I also doubt it will be a horror movie. Otherwise, there would be no point in Eric saying, “We’ve been dealing with horror films for October, but next week’s entry will feature a horror of a different kind.”
“High School Musical” sounds like a pretty good guess. All musicals are horrific to some degree, unless they’re animated.

Eric’s Sainted Grandmother’s birthday is the 24th. I don’t think there were any movies made about her, though.
