‘Snide Remarks’ Classic: ‘Ad Nauseum’

Alt text

This week’s “Snide Remarks” Classic column is about TV commercials, which is a very cutting-edge thing to make fun of. There’s also a crack about gay marriage, which surprised me when I re-read it, as the column is from 1999 and I had forgotten that the issue was in the news that long ago.

It’s called “Ad Nauseum,” and it’s #79, originally published on Oct. 29, 1999, in the Daily Herald. I recall getting several comments at the time from readers who particularly enjoyed it, which was gratifying, as my column-writing stint at the Herald had been somewhat rocky up to that point. I was glad to be back on track.
