Children’s Letters to Raven-Symone IV
Here are some more e-mails sent to symone.raven@gmail.com, an address that does NOT belong to Raven-Symone, but because Raven’s fans are dumb (i.e., they are children), they think it does. So they write to it all the time. This entry has more details on how this phenomenon came to be.

Jan. 1, 2006:
Please send me back. Soon too.
[Alarmingly, this person's e-mail address follows the format of "cute_name73@yahoo.com," with "cute_name" being my fictionalization but "73" being real. Usually, an e-mail address or screen name with a number like that in it refers either to the person's age or the year the person was born. Can Raven-Symone have fans born in 1973? The mind reels.]

MADISON’S MOM
[Madison is going to be deaf if you keep screaming all the time, Madison's Mom. Cut it out.
And yes, I noticed that Raven's No. 1 fan was only a year old at the time her mother wrote this. I don't even know what to say about that, except that it's probably the mother who's the big fan, the mother being about 16.]

Jan. 18, 2006:
Dear Raven Symone,
My name is Yasmin [withheld].I am your biggest fan,I know you maybe heard this your hole life, but I really mean it.Did you know my birthday is January 20,1995? Well getting back to what I was telling you I am your biggest fan.I know that your favorite fruit is bananas, your 19,and your birthday is Dec.10,1985,so happy late birthday.Well I have to go, but can you please write back to me?
From, Yasmin [withheld]
[This letter seriously cracks me up. The misspelling of "whole" is amusing, as is the assertion that she (not all the others who say it) is Raven's biggest fan. And then she interrupts herself to mention when her birthday is, going so far as to ask if Raven already knew that. Having finished that non-sequitur, she gets back to the topic at hand: her status as Raven's greatest admirer. Her proof of this? She knows when Raven's birthday is and what Raven's favorite fruit is. Perfect! This is one of my favorite Raven letters.]

Poor kids. It’s hard going through life when you’re that stupid. But it makes our lives more enjoyable, because we can laugh at them.
If these letters are all from late 2005/early 2006, you’ve got some catching up to do, Eric.

What REALLY blows my mind is the fact that each fan believes RS will take a personal interest in each and every one of them.
Wake up and smell the coffee, people!
October 29th, 2006 at 7:31 am
The other great thing in the last email is that she says “you 19, and your birthday is Dec. 10, 1985.” written on Jan 18 2006. Now I am no math genius, but if it is January 06, and Raven was born in 85, wouldn’t that make her 20?
October 29th, 2006 at 12:59 pm
When I was about 10, I was OBSESSED with Belinda Carlisle. I bet I wrote her a dozen letters telling her that I was her biggest fan, that I used to dress like I was in the Go-Gos, and that I really wanted her to do a concert here in Louisiana to which I wanted backstage passes so I could meet her. But then I got older and realized that the world did not revolve around me.
October 29th, 2006 at 3:43 pm
That’s right Carrie, it actually revolves around me.
October 29th, 2006 at 3:53 pm
“73″ could mean “July 3rd.” I really hope it does. Or, the person could be dyslexic, and “73″ actually means “March 7th.” That would also be acceptable.
My god, Raven-Symone’s fans are retarded.
October 29th, 2006 at 6:57 pm
Ummm . . . actually 73 means March 7 to many millions of people who are neither dyslexic nor American.
I suppose Joe’s idea is much the same as speaking loudly to people who don’t understand English, because they are obviously hard of hearing.
Either way, he might want to rethink making fun of R-S’ fans in quite those terms.
October 29th, 2006 at 7:23 pm
Wow, I never even thought of that, and - to be honest - I generally use the European style of Day Month, Year. But, judging from the way these letters are written, it would appear that most of the people writing them are, indeed, American. And I don’t speak loudly to people who don’t speak English.
My retarded R-S fans comment didn’t have anything to do with the previous comment.

I think we all need to get our own fake quasi-celebrity email addresses. It would entertain me to no end replying to messages like this all day long… Maybe I’m just weird though.
October 30th, 2006 at 9:43 am
I once wrote a fan letter to a guy in The Association (quite a famous group in their day) and got an answer! I was so excited, and I read it over and over again, and I wrote back to him, thinking we were going to become pen pals. I was about 13, I think. He never wrote back, and I felt so used.
October 30th, 2006 at 11:20 am
My mom got my niece a “That’s So Raven” doll for either her birthday or she’s really early at Christmas shopping. I chortled when I saw it. My mom has no idea who Raven-Symone is, and I wouldn’t, either, if it weren’t for these children’s letters.
October 30th, 2006 at 1:36 pm
Raven was a cute enough little girl on Cosby, but she’s not that great now. Rudi, now, she was an adorable child and is a beautiful young woman. Would you happen to have her email address? Wait…have you ever even WRITTEN about her?
October 30th, 2006 at 3:57 pm
Ha ha! I’ve done this before, had a fake e-mail for Raven-Symone, and there was this like 25 year old woman saying how she was a big fan and how she might be the oldest big fan, and I talked to her like the whole summer in ‘05, and she even sent me (Raven) pics of her…and like she was saying how she lived in Las Vegas and how she could meet Raven in no time in L.A….but i didn’t want it to get too far so i told her that I was Raven’s cousin playing a trick on her.
And I also got some other e-mails to…but I do agree Raven fans are pretty dumb because of the simple fact, Raven claims she cares about her fans…but i dunno, who really knows.
December 7th, 2006 at 12:29 pm
Maybe 73 is just her favorite number, some people do it like that.
December 10th, 2007 at 6:29 pm
About the girl with 73 in her email:
If the name was already taken when she created an email address it probably came up with some alternatives similar to the first one entered in; lots of email providers do this. I think. My usernames have rarely been taken before I attempt to register them, so this is only a vague memory from making my first email address, neopets account, etc. when I was younger. So rather than coming up with something completely new, this girl most likely chose one of the alternatives that happened to be the exact same thing but with a number on the end. 73.
