Friday movie roundup - March 28

One of the things I like about film festivals is that they’re efficient. Case in point: Four of this week’s new releases are films that played at South By Southwest, thus relieving me of having to watch them this week.

“Stop-Loss” and “21″ are both C+ movies. “Run Fatboy Run” is better. “Flawless,” in limited release, is also decent. Note that my reviews of “Stop-Loss,” “21,” and “Flawless” are all at Cinematical.

The other new release today is one of Hollywood’s Shameful Secrets©, i.e., it wasn’t screened for critics. It’s “Superhero Movie” … yes, another unimaginatively titled spoof film. I’m seeing it today, and my review will be at Film.com later tonight is at Film.com now.

I also caught Tyler Perry’s “Meet the Browns” this week, and that review is now available. It’s the first film Perry has made that’s actually OK. So just like his characters keep saying, miracles do happen!

Maybe it’s just me, but the 21 link isn’t working, even when I was on the Cinematical page.

  2. Dave Says:

    Nope, it’s not just you–and “Stop-Loss” isn’t linking, either.

If you use the search box in the upper right corner of the Cinematical page, you’ll find them. But yes, Eric’s links don’t work.

  4. Eric D. Snider Says:

OK, those links are fixed now. My Cinematical overlords re-positioned the reviews so they’d show up on the front page today, and doing so caused the URLs to change. All better now.

  5. Jenn Says:

Yeah, “Superhero Movie” wasn’t worth screening. Barely worth the price of a matinee ticket. There were some funny moments, but most of them came during the credits. Although the guy they have playing Tom Cruise looks really scarily like the real one! Oh well….at least my movie theater started serving Cold Stone Creamery ice cream, so I at least got to enjoy that!! :)
