The train in “Unstoppable” is, in fact, stoppable, and “127 Hours” is barely an hour and a half long. Otherwise, those movies are pretty good. Especially “127 Hours,” which is still in limited release but will soon be more widely available.
“Morning Glory” (review at Film.com) is a lot less good, failing to take advantage of its many comic possibilities. Woody Allen’s latest, “You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger,” is likewise subpar.
Also in limited release: “Tamara Drewe” (review at Film.com), a fun ‘n’ snappy British comedy of manners.
“Skyline” opened wide today as one of Hollywood’s Shameful Secrets®. Review to come.
“What’s the Big Deal?” and “Eric’s Bad Movies” took the week off. But I did transcribe the pitch meeting for the Justin Bieber 3D movie, so there’s that.

I keep wondering if this movie is a remake of another movie about a runaway train: “Runaway Train,” with Jon Voight and Eric Roberts. It was terrible, and rightfully forgotten, but it does have the greatest product placement I’ve ever seen in a movie.
The only black character (the goofy one!) is up in the control tower. He pauses, amidst all the crisis (the train, you know) to have a drink. He takes a long, luxurious pull on his can of Coke (the logo pointed right at you, natch), and actually does the number where you pull back, look at this can of pretty damn good soda there and goes, “Ahhh!”
Then the action resumes. There are no further scenes involving Coke.
